A birdwatching itinerary in Valle del Lozoya
Bird Watching Trails
Alto Valle del Lozoya and Sierra Norte of Madrid are privileged places for birdwatching. Relief on their granites and gneisses extend oaks, in the lower, warmer areas, "melojares", pine woods in mountain areas and shrubs, juniper and grasslands in areas of higher altitude. Ash along rivers and lavenders on the slopes without trees.
This landscape is home to such important species as the BLACK VULTURE and the griffon vulture (here is the largest colony of Madrid), the peregrine falcon, honey buzzard, toed, MILANO BLACK, Kite, Booted eagle, golden eagle and eagle owl. The white storks nest in towns and ash and you can see waterfowls in the reservoirs in winter.
Last June, a pair of black storks were seen flying over the Alto Valle and the heads of the participants of the Raptor Identification Course of SEO, who taught in collaboration with the campsite MH.
Tours in the Upper Valley of Lozoya
Mountain Passes of Cotos and Morcuera offer the opportunity to make interesting ornithological tours to observe species such as Ortolan Bunting, the Water pipit or Bluethroat, in Morcuera and Citril and crossbill in the Port of Cotos, among many others.
Other Tours
