The Monastery is located in the incomparable site of Lozoya valley, which forms a natural amphitheater on a plateau of about 1159 m, surrounded by the magnificent peaks of the Sierra de Guadarrama: Peñalara (2430 m), Cabeza de Hierro (2.380m.) King Juan I of Castile made the first stone on August 29th, 1390. The following year came the first residents to reside, the Order of the Carthusians, who until the sale in 1835 would occupy the monastery, making it one of the great Carthusian Spain, which commanded the build of The Charterhouse of Granada.
